Unit #2

Behavioral goals and their classification

You will know:

  • What is the function of behavior?
  • Why is it important to identify the function before correcting the problem behavior ?
  • What is a functional behavior analysis?

You will learn how:

  • Observe behavior
  • Fill out the required form
  • Determine the function of behavior

Unit #3

What influences the frequency of behavior?

Reinforcement and punishment

You will know:

  • How do reinforcements (rewards) affect behavior?
  • Why are punishments short-lived and ineffective?
  • How to be unbiased when seeing reinforcing actions for different behaviors?

You will learn:

  • See valid reinforcements (rewards) in behaviors
  • Use only reinforcements without resorting to punishments
  • Distinguish between reinforcements that work and things a person just likes
